Picking a Perfume Fragrance
Perfumes which used to be quantified into seven traditional scent categories are now split into only five categories. Floral scents focus upon single or multiple flower scents. Green features predominantly lighter versions of bergamot, patchouli and oak moss. Oceanic/Ozone describes a very new type of scent which emerged in the 1990s and tends to be very androgynous. Citrus or Fruity scents only recently became popular due to the traditional fleeting nature of these oils. Techniques now exist that allow perfume makers to lock in these scents for a longer duration allowing manufacturers to open this new line of products. If you are planning to smell a number of perfume fragrances in one day, take along a small container of ground coffee to clear the previous scent from your nose before sniffing another. The best way to try a fragrance is to apply it on a pulse point and then smell it at least 10 minutes later. It is even better to do this several times. In order to narrow down your selection you might want to go to the store, try several perfumes in one day, and then ask the salesperson if you can have a small sample to take home. Over the next several days try the fragrance until you are certain you like it. Only then should you invest in a bottle of good perfume.
